Empowering Children Schools have amazing, dedicated teachers! This month our featured teacher is Mrs. Salamatu Kamara, who teaches at the Empowering Children School in Freetown. Ibrahim Kamara recently interviewed Mrs.Kamara:

 

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Freetown, a city full of vibrant culture and history.

 

Why did you want to become a teacher?
I became a teacher because I have a deep passion for working with children. I wanted to understand them better, and play a role in shaping their future.

 

What grade do you teach?

I teach grades 3,4,5,and 6, working with students at a critical stage in their learning journey.

 

What is your favorite subject to teach?

My favorite subject to teach is social studies because it allows me to connect students with their community and the world around them.

 

What is your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge is working with parents who struggle to meet thier children’s needs, which can affect the students’ education and well-being.

 

What advice do you have for new teachers?

My advice to new teachers is to work togwether as a team to support and nurture children. Together, we can help create a brighter future for them.

 

What do you like to do in your time off?

In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking, and attending church on Sundays to rejuvenate my spirit.

 

Who inspires you ?

I was inspired by my own teacher, whose dedication and care left a lasting impact on my life.
