Students in Sierra Leone wear uniforms to school, and our students in Newton Village wanted to wear uniforms as well. Studies have shown that wearing uniforms to school improves self esteem and behavior. We wanted these children, who are in school for the frst time ever, to feel good about themselves.
The extra challenge is that enrollment is up from 56 to 80 pupils!

Abdul Kamara is the village tailor. He asked for a picture of the uniform we wanted and the sewing materials. He was supplied with the items requested. Two days later our executive director visited Mr. Kamara, and found he had already sewn 10 pairs of unirorms! This will be a great moral booster for the children of this remote village, and will contribute to their learning and therefore their future!

Cheers to you, Abdul Kamara! We are amazed at your skills!! Thank you for improving the lives of these precious children!
