The teachers at both of our schools are deeply dedicated and understand the vital role education plays in shaping the future of their students. At Newton Village School, educators like Mariama Barrie work for a stipend rather than a salary, teaching with commitment despite limited resources. Classes are currently held in a building generously loaned by the village chief while construction of the new school is underway. Even in these challenging conditions, Newton’s teachers continue to deliver a strong education—driven by passion, resilience, and a belief in the power of learning to change lives.

Recently, Ibrahim Kamara conducted an interview with Ms. Barrie, who teaches kindergarten.
