Community members gather to make bricks and build school walls. Residents of all ages donated their time and skills to begin the walls of the new school building that will serve the children of Newton Village for years to come.
The school is being built on land that was given to SHARP by the village chief. The school will contain 9 classrooms and an IT room. Because their village is in a remote, rural area and the villagers do not have transportation to the nearest school, children of this community were not receiving an education. Community members are dedicated to providing this opportunity for their youth, and so are working hard to help build the school.
Making the bricks for the walls and having volunteers provide much of the labor are just two of the ways we are keeping costs down. It is inspiring to see the willingness of a community to come together and work hard to make a dream a reality!
