Fundraising continues to be the biggest challenge for SHARP. We are looking for volunteers to help come up with ideas, and conduct fundraisers. This is a great opportunity for students who need volunteer hours for college transcripts. For anyone who wants to make the world a better place, your help will change lives!

SHARP recently had a visit from the Executive Director of Changes for Madagascar, Papanie Turray. Papanie is originally from Sierra Leone, and now runs a nonprofit in Madagascar. His organization works with street children, providing them with food, medical care, educational materials, tutoring, field trips, and help with homework. Through his program these children are excelling in school. Papanie is visiting Sierra Leone for a few weeks. He toured our agriculture center and visited Empowering Children School in Freetown. Papanie and Ibrahim were able to spend some time together sharing ideas for meeting challenges, and offering each other support and encouragement.
Farm Program Update
Funds from the agriculture grant we received were put to use this month when wheelbarrows were purchased for our tool loan program. Farmers have had to carry everything by hand to and from the field. The ability to borrow a wheelbarrow at planting and harvest times will make their job much easier. SHARP continues to support 85 small farmers with seeds, sustainable agriculture training, and tool loans. This enables them to increase their crop yield, earn more income, and have more food for their families. We will be writing more agriculture grants in 2024. The ability to grow successful crops is life changing in these communities, where there is little opportunity for earning an income. Thanks to each of our supporters for helping us to improve lives.
